Matt running a dive in Antarctica Under the ice Matt Brown has been diving all his adult life. His career as a commercial diver has taken him from oil rigs of the North Sea and the Gulf of Mexico to the coral reefs of Australia and Belize. Matt is also a highly qualified diving instructor. With over a decade of experience he has trained many hundreds of divers. When not on a film project or exploring the wrecks and reefs to be found off the Cornish coast, Matt teaches a variety of paramedic and technical courses to commercial and military divers from around the world. Matt has spent four seasons working as Diving Officer for the British Antarctic Survey. He consequently has a great deal of knowledge and experience diving in both remote locations and hostile conditions. Matt has organized and conducted many successful diving expeditions including two research cruises around the South Atlantic and Antarctic Peninsula. These cruises visited some of the most remote dive sites on earth and required a great deal of planning and specialist equipment. This including fitting out vessels with full recompression chamber systems and training the dive teams to use them. As a diving supervisor Matt is used to working within UK Health and Safety guidelines – some of the most stringent in the world. All projects undertaken comply fully with the relevant accepted codes of practice. Matt’s film credits included underwater camera work for the BBC, ITN and the Discovery Channel. He has also worked as safety diver on numerous film and TV projects. He is regularly involved in a diverse range of projects, one day filming marine life on a Devon wreck for the BBC Natural History Unit, the next diving with supermodels for TV commercials. Matt was recently involved in the diving safety for the James Bond film “Casino Royale”. |
